Fun With Transparent Appliques
<< back to Tutorials main page

We´re always trying to come up with new and innovative techniques; this two-step appliqué process is easy once you know how. Editing your files to fit together in the right order is the first step; we´ll walk though this design from our “Fish Bowl” pack.

Step 1. First the file embroiders the running stitches for placement of the first appliqué, once the outline is done the machine will move to the outside of the design.

Step 2. Give your appliqué material a shot of spray adhesive; just a little bit will do you.

Step 3. Place the material over the outline stitches.

Step 4. When you start the machine it will embroider the “tack-down” stitches to secure the appliqué fabric.

Step 5. Carefully cut the excess material away from the appliqué.

Step 6. Next the embroidery file will further secure the appliqué and then continue to finish all the embroidered elements in the design.

Step 7. After all the embroidered elements are done it will continue to embroider a running stitch outline for the second “transparent” appliqué. Then the machine will move to the outside of the design.

Step 8. Place down your plastic material within the stitched appliqué outline.

Step 9. The design will then embroider the “tack-down” stitches to secure the plastic appliqué.

Step 10. Carefully cut the excess plastic away from the appliqué.

Step 11. It will then continue to finish the rest of the design.

Step 12. Looks Great!
